Text Box: “The mind, when housed within a healthful body, possesses a glorious sense of power.” -Joseph Pilates Pilates is a somatic movement practice.  As originally intended by Joe Pilates, the core principle is integrating the body and the mind.  Through consciousness of form and breathing, we attain flow and coordination of the whole body.  Bodies must move!  Movement ranges from the subtle, intricate movement of our internal systems to the large, complex movement tasks with the equipment.  Through movement practice, we heal ourselves.  By achieving physical tasks we gain confidence and strength.  This power and strength is approached with length and flexibility.  With movement we attain whole body-mind health and with this, comes a sense of strength and suppleness.

Text Box: Breathing is the first act of life and the last. Our very life depends on it. -Joseph Pilates I value the core principles that are at the heart of Joseph Pilates’ method.  I believe in integrating the whole body and the whole mind.  I believe that breath is key to connecting these outer and inner worlds and centering the body.  I believe in the connectivity, flow and coordination as a sign of this integration.  I believe in practicing exercises with awareness and consciousness and integrating this practice into our everyday life.  The practice is a slice of time when we are aware of how we are at all times in life.  It informs us of our approach to all things and gives us insight on how we can better our lives.

Text Box: “Change happens through movement and movement heals.” -Joseph Pilates Movement can heal on multiple levels: biomechanical, psychological, emotional and spiritual.  I want to work with clients to achieve their goals, which means matching you at your level.  I can meet you on a surface level or go deeper depending on your needs.  There is great value in addressing the body physically- giving a workout that addresses strength, toning, injuries and aesthetics.  I don’t see these things as separate from what and how one thinks.  I encourage my clients to be present and interested in creating change in their bodies and in their lives.
